Drop off Event | Friday, March 23 | 4:00-7:45 PM
Swapapalooza is a two-day event. Friday night is the Drop off part. Saturday morning is the Swap portion. Both days happen in the Crown Hill Center gymnasium 9250 14th Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117. If you're familiar with the building ARC Ballet or Small Faces is in, it's the same place.
Registered swappers arrive anytime between 4:00-7:45 PM on Friday night to turn in their swapables. ALL items must be hung/prepared according to our preparation guidelines. Once you've checked in, our "Friendly Fashion Filters" will process your goods to determine how many Trade Points you earn for accepted items. (See more about Trade Points below.)
This whole process is quick. Average wait time is 20 minutes. We have a small offering of things to nibble on and sip while you wait. You can also peruse the Goop table and/or get a henna tattoo from Meghan's Mehndi. OR, avoid the down time entirely by choosing to donate the things that don't get accepted so you don't have to stick around. We will sort anything that doesn't get earn Trade Points and donate them to the most appropriate recipients. (See Donations info below.) We'll let you know how many points you earned when you check-in on Saturday AM for Swap Day.
FRIENDLY FASHION FILTERS
All items will a pass through what we call the "Friendly Fashion Filters" to ensure everyone has the best stuff to choose from at Swapapalooza. Our filters pull your best items, and award you "Trade Points" in return. Two accepted items earn one Trade Point. Trade Points are swap currency. One trade Point buys one item no matter what it is.
Since most of us don't have Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe, be prepared for some items not to pass. We promise it’s nothing personal. It will be for a legitimate reason—pit stains, missing button, too 1992…you get the gist.
Also, keep in mind we have multiple filtering stations with different volunteer teams at each one. While we do our best to be consistent in our selection process, there is some level of subjectivity. Please don't be offended by the decisions our teams have to make in a hurry.
PRO TIP: The top seven Swappers with the most accepted items win "Business Class Boarding" (aka early entry) to the Swap event on Saturday! So bring us all your best stuff and potentially earn a five minute lead ahead of everyone else!
When you submit your swapable items at Drop Off, everything you check in, stays in. We HIGHLY encourage this honest and hassle free option. Liberate yourself and save yourself a trip to a donation center! We will lovingly sort items according to who can use them the most.
